Disney With A Soldier

I've officially changed my middle name to Slacker. Ok, not really, but I should have, as I've neglected my computer duties for a month.

The good news is that there have been parties and trips in that sabbatical I took, so that's a good thing, right?

I'm going to do my best to catch up, one day at a time.

January 8, 2013

My "adopted" son, Jordan, had his choice of a family vacation when he returned from Afghanistan. It's the least I could do considering what he'd been through.

He picked Disney World...further proof that he really does belong in this family!

Welcome home to Disney's Fort Wilderness resort!

Camp is all set up in site #550

We also had friends visiting with us from Jacksonville, Connecticut and South Carolina.

Right to left: TJ, Tony,Genia, Me & Jason

Fellow campers: Ed, (me) and Ed's Mama.

Some Alabama friends: Kelly & daughter Brittany with me & TJ

Hakuna Matata! If you've never seen the Lion King show, I highly recommend it.

Jordan was inspired by the acrobatic monkeys.

Meet Boo, from the movie Monsters, Inc.  LOVE HER!

My all time favorite...Baby gorilla!

Jordan's first tram ride.

Dinner that evening was at Cape May's.

Delicious food with some wonderful friends.

Judy AKA Feisty.

We rounded out the evening with some cocktails and friends.

I hate when the camera is turned on me!

The next day, a few of the boys' friends showed up to hang out.
Left to right: Jordan, Nate, Karissa, Kelsey & Colton.

Trevor, Mason & I did some exploring at the campground.

Remnants of the old railroad are still visible if you know where to look.

After some exploring, we settled back at camp for some friendly games of cornhole.

As the night wore on, Colton found a seat safely away from the games.

What better way to finish out the evening than partying with friends?

After everyone went back to their respective sites, we hit the hay.

Epcot was our on our agenda for the next day.

Jordan came over for breakfast :)

Trevor chose to sit home and dog-sit Mason and my BMF (that's "Best Male Friend") Donnie's pup, Chloe.

The Epcot cast of characters were:

On the bus

I had been planning a surprise Welcome Home party for Jordan to be held on Saturday evening. I had Nate suggest to Jordan that they go to the Magic Kingdom for a few hours (In which I could get everything prepared and decorated)

When the kids took off, we got busy!

And the party begins!

It was a great night, Jordan was both surprised and extremely grateful!

Half of our vacation is over, but there's more to come...and I promise it won't take me a month to get back to it! :)
